In the year 2005 the National Institute for Forestry, Agriculture and Livestock Research (INIFAP), in cooperation with the growers association COFUPRO, has decided to extend its current network of weather stations by another 500 ETo stations, this time equipped with wireless telemetry. After conducting a series of extensive comparative tests Adcon Telemetry GmbH , represented in Mexico by Agrienlace SA de C.V. in Hermosillo, has emerged as the supplier of choice. As of November 09, 2006, 498 stations are already fully operational!

Not only the current weather, but also numerous statistical data can be found on the web site of INIFAP. While such general information is free of charge to the general public, advanced and more specific information, like site-specific irrigation and treatment recommendations, growing degree day information and advanced statistics require a contract with the service providers.
