An ambitious project, launched at the beginning of last year, has now come to a successfull conclusion: Chile's first National Network of Weather Stations will consist of 33 Adcon ETo stations!
In a public appearance in front of members of the press and a large number of viticulturists from all major Chilean wine growing areas, the managing director of the "Consorcios del Vino", Mrs. Elena Carretero, introduced the project to the public.

In her presentation Mrs Carretero listed the objectives of the project: improving the competitiveness of the chilean viticultural sector, reducing the cost of the various inputs, improving daily management, and last not least a reduction of water usage. Basic meteorological informationen will be provided to all members of the Association free of charge, while specific consulting will incurr a little fee. All data will be hosted on an addVANTAGE Pro Server by the Association themselves, with the technical consulting and assistance of the Adcon distributor AGRYS Ltd. Mr. Gonzalo Arellano, himself an agronomist with many years of experience in the viticultural sector, will actively assist in training interested parties to properly use the Adcon disease and irrigation models.

In parallel data will also be available to the general public on a website created by CITRA, a faculty of the University of Talca, headed by Prof. Samuel Ortega. You can find their website by clicking here: SEPOR. The CITRA institute as a research partner to the project will use the meteorological data to develop crop coefficients tailor made for Chilean crops and environments.
