Pole Pounder

Installation of a pole set is frequently done by pounding the base pole into the ground with a sledge hammer. This installation method is only recommended if being performed in rather heavy soils, which offer sufficient support against wind pressure.

Put the pole pounder on top of the pole section which you would like to pound into the ground, tighten  it with a pipe clamp, and try to hit it as flat as possible with your sledge hammer. Rather than using a steel hammer we also recommend to use a pounder made of polycarbonate.
